  • I give the mother church of Oxford 2d.
  • I give the parish church of Bladon 1d.
  • I give my son Robarte Tassell £10 to be paid at age 21.
  • I give my son John Tassell £10 to be paid at age 21.
    If either of them die before 21, the survivor is to have the whole £20.
  • I give my daughter Agnes Tassell £6 13s 4d to be paid at the day of her marriage.
  • I give my daughter Dorrithie Tassell £6 13s 4d to be paid at the day of her marriage.
  • I give my daughter Jane Tassell £6 13s 4d to be paid at the day of her marriage.
    If one or more of my daughters dies before marriage, those portion(s) go to the survivor(s).
    If they all die before marriage, all their portions go to my above sons or the survivor of them.
  • If my wife Margaret remarries before [some or all of] my children receive their portions, those portions are to be disposed for my childrens' benefit within one year after the marriage as my overseers decide.
  • I give my godson John Slatter Jr, son of John Slatter Sr of Hensington, one lamb to be delivered within one year after my decease.
  • I give all the rest of my goods and chattels, my debts and funeral being paid, to my wife Margaret Tassell whom I make my Executrix.
  • I appoint as overseers Robarde Symons and John Slatter, and I give them 12d each for their pains.

the Reigne of Our sovereigne Ladye queene Elizabeth [damage] I Robarte
Tassell of Hensington within the p'ishe of Bladon in the Countye of Oxon
yeoman beinge sicke in Bodye but in p'fecte memory thankes bee geeven to
God dooe make this my laste will & Testamente in forme followinge firste I
Bequeathe my soule to allmightye god & my bodye to Christian Buryall It' I
geeve to the mother Churche of Oxon ijd It' I geeve to the p'ishe Churche of Bladon
One penye It' my I geeve to Robarte Tassell my soonne x pounds to bee payde
when hee coomethe to the age of One & Twentye yeares It' I geeve to John Tassell
my soonne Ten pounds to bee payde when hee coomethe to the age of One & Twentye
yeares as aforesayde It' my will is that if either of the sayde Robarte & John my soonnes
shall dye before theye coome to the age aforesayde that then the survivor or longer liver
of them shall have the whole porc'on of Twentye pounds It' I geeve to Agnes

of my sayde Daughters shall dye before theye are married that then her or their
porc'on or porc'ons shall remayne to the longer livers or longer liver of them And if
all of my sayde Daughters shall dye before the Tyme of their marraige as aforesayde
That then all their porc'ons shall remayne to my soonnes aforesayde or to the longer
liver of either of them It' my will is that if Margaret my wife shall fortune
to marrye at any Tyme after my deceasse & before that my Children or anye of them
shall have their porc'ons aforesayde That then their porc'on or porc'ons shalbee
disposed to my Childrens use accordinge to the True entente of this my will
within One yeare after that my wife shall marrye in suche sorte as the Overseers
of this my will shall set downe not beeinge Contrarye to the True entente of this
my will It' I geeve to John Slatter the younger the soonne of John Slatter
the elder of Hensington my godsoonne one Lambe to bee delivered within One
yeare after my deceasse It' all the reste of my goods & chattells moveable and
ymoveable my debts beeinge payde & my funerall finished I geeve to Margaret
